Automated procedure for determination of sialic acids and 2-deoxyribose in blood and tissues.

چکیده
A manual procedure for measuring sialic acids in blood and tissue and an automated procedure for measuring sialic acids in blood have been combined and modified so that sialic acid concentrations in both blood and tissue can be determined by continuous-flow analysis. Because 2-deoxyribose interferes with tissue sialic acid determinations, there must be a correction for color produced by it. In the calculation of sialic acids, the value for 2-deoxyribose can simultaneously be obtained. In addition to the analyses of mixed standards of sialic acids and 2-deoxyribose, we report analytical data for rat blood and tissue samples.

A Study of Lipid- and Protein- Bound Sialic Acids for the Diagnosis of Bladder Cancer and Their Relationships with the Severity of Malignancy
Background: The gold standard for detection of bladder cancer is cystoscopy, which is an invasive and complicated procedure. Our study was conducted to find a tumor marker with high specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy for the diagnosis of bladder cancer. Methods: Serum samples were collected from 58 bladder cancer patients and 60 healthy control subjects. Levels of lipid-bound sialic acid...
متن کاملThe Association of Omentin Gene Expression in Visceral and Subcutaneous Adipose Tissues with Plasma Fatty Acids Profile and Dietary Fatty Acids
Introduction: Omentin, an adipokine, with anti-inflammatory effects reduces insulin resistance, and can hence, play an important role in prevention of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The present study aimed to investigate the association of plasma and dietary fatty acids with gene expression of omentin in visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissues. Materials and Methods: Visceral and subcut...
متن کاملA procedure for the isolation and determination of deoxyribose derivatives.
A method of determining deoxyribose derivatives in biological material is described. It has high sensitivity, and is particularly useful in that it can be applied to a large range of tissues for which the other available assays are unsuitable. This is because the method is applicable to complex mixtures of nucleotides in which such substances as ribonucleotides are present in very large excess ...
متن کاملNano Analysis in Biochemistry: In Vitro Separation and Determination of Aluminium in Blood of Dialysis Patients Based on Graphene Oxide Nanoparticles Dispersed to Ionic Liquid
The highest concentration of aluminium (Al) in human blood has toxic effect and so, extraction from human body is very important. In this procedure, an efficient and new method based on graphene oxide nanoparticles (GONPs) dispersed in ionic liquid (IL) was used for in-vitro separation/extraction of trace Al from the blood of dialysis patients by ultrasound assisted-dispersive-micro solid phase...
متن کاملEffects of cadmium and copper on sialic acid levels in blood and brain tissues of Cyprinus carpio L
Sialic acids (N-acetylneuraminic acids) are negatively charged monosaccharides which are common constituents in oligosaccharides of vertebrates and some invertebrate species[1]. They are possibly the most biologically important monosaccharide units of glycoconjugates. The majority of sialic acid in higher animals is bound up in glycoconjugates. Sialic acid often occurs as the terminal monosacch...
